Within these surreal environments, I attempt to force my figures into an
uncomfortable space and time by using fields of color that seem to stretch on
infinitely, representing a purgatory in which the figures exist. I expressively apply
my emotions upon the canvas channeled through the defined planes that compose
the background. Many of the young women represented are mutilated, existing as
objects with the simultaneous purpose of visual aestheticism and disgust. While
much of my work can easily be seen as misogynistic, I only attempt to destroy
the 'idealized' western view of beauty.
