The 8 Worst Fonts In The World

The 8 Worst Fonts In The World

The 8 Worst Fonts In The World

In "Just My Type," Simon Garfield counts down his least favorite typefaces. And Comic Sans isn't among them.

We’d need another book, of course, to do this justice. And where would one start?

Fonts are like cars on the street--we notice only the most beautiful or ugly, the funniest or the flashiest. The vast majority roll on regardless. There may be many reasons why we dislike or distrust certain fonts, and overuse and misuse are only starting points. Fonts may trigger memory as pungently as perfume: Gill Sans can summon up ...

The Original Print

The Rise of Printmaking in Southern California (video podcast)

The art world of the late 1950s experienced a groundswell of interest in printmaking that forever changed the artistic landscape of America. By that time, the most avant-garde of artists had become interested in making editioned works on paper with a press, using methods no longer relegated to a select group who defined themselves solely as “printmakers.” Because this development was still in its germinal stages in the 1950s, however, there existed only a handful of places in the country where eager young artists could learn the techniques of printmaking. Calling forth its SPARK!

Vancouver BC

I thought I would add an inspirational quote this week at the end of the artwork to tie together issue #3's theme: People in art, people as art. We all have art in us, we just need to tap into it and allow it to flow. Have a great weekend and enjoy. ~M.

"Without passion man is a mere latent force and possibility, like the flint which awaits the shock of the iron before it can give forth its spark"
~ Henri Frederic Amiel

Where there's a SPARK, there is a fire.

Vancouver BC

Where there's a SPARK, there's a fire.

Salutations. I've chosen to keep this intro short (again) and let the art do the talking. Spread the love people, let these guys know you like there work by giving them some CRED and by posting on their blogs. *Our cover art this week comes from Tanel Reino who's digital art pieces I highly recommend (there's 3 at the bottom of this issue.) Peace, Love -Bobby Sherman.

Wall of Inspiration

Vancouver BC

A while ago I started what my friend coined as "the drawer of inspiration." Every time I found something I "liked" I would toss it in the old metal cabinet by by the door. Eventually that turned into a wall of inspiration made up of everything from flyers I found near the local watering hole in Hollywood to direct marketing pieces laying around the post office. Recently I found this virtual wall of inspiration while cleaning up some of my design bookmarks and I thought I would share it with you all. It turns out that the guys at Abduzeedo ...

Experiments in Urban Persuasion

Vancouver BC

Communication Design...
sort of.

We live in a world
with lots of people
and one or two problems.

The problem:
An empty bridge -
An intersection where 7 out of 10 pedestrians dangerously cross [the street]

An idea!
Monday, September 27
9 out of 10 people crossed using the bridge during the installation.
