News Junkie is a 35mm short film. This started out as a one-minute monologue written for an actress friend for an audition, and I later expanded it into the script for this short film. In my first 35mm short, The Neighbors Upstairs, I stuck to pretty simple shots. For this film, I wanted to push myself a little further, finding interesting camera angles and doing a dolly shot down a hallway, which I had always wanted to do. With a short film that was nothing but a girl talking directly to camera, the angles and framing took on extra importance to keep the look of the film visually interesting.

Both News Junkie and The Neighbors Upstairs were shot by my friend, the talented Roderick Stevens.

The opening shot through the refrigerator was done by cutting two holes into an old fridge, one in the freezer section and one in the bottom section, and then jibbing the camera from one opening to the other. The shot looking up through the sink was done through the garbage disposal opening in a kitchen sink that we set-up on a pair of sawhorses in a garage (that thankfully had a finished ceiling).
