DETAIL DESCRIPTION
HELP WANTED: AWESOME DESIGNER
Are you an awesome designer? We want to talk to you! The Carlson Group is looking for a Senior Industrial Designer to join our small but extremely talented, hard working design team.
The Senior Industrial Designer takes a supporting role in development solutions for retail fixtures, programs and environments. This position interfaces primarily with internal teams (Senior and Junior Designers, Account Management, Engineering, and Project Management). Assists design team in support areas including 3D renderings, ideation, graphic work, material library maintenance, and design team coordination and scheduling.
Passion is a virtue.
We draw inspiration from all sorts of stuff… architecture, advertising, furniture, art, fashion, interior design, even products we use every day. Being passionate about design means you’re always looking at things with a creative eye. It means you can’t wait to share something cool with your fellow designers, and then talk about what would make whatever-it-is even cooler. It means you have a drive to challenge yourself, challenge the status quo, and challenge others to think differently.
We work together.
There are no lone wolves here. No walls. We’ll never tell you to “think outside the box”. We hate that too! We start projects by researching together, brainstorming, and sketching like mad. Then we split up the work so that everything gets done on time, but we share the load. Sometimes we whistle while we work, but only during the songs that have whistling in them. In short, we believe in collaboration.
You won’t be bored.
There’s going to be a ping-pong table in our new design space. Seriously, though, we keep things interesting. There are few design specialties that can match the pace of retail fixture and environment design. Aggressive timelines are the norm. Insane timelines are not rare. Have you ever noticed how time flies when you’re busy? This is almost like time travel. Before you even have a chance to get bored, we’re moving on to the next thing. That doesn’t mean you’ll never have time to recharge your batteries, though. We recognize the value of getting out of the office every once in a while, or making time to read the latest design mags.
