Game Productivity Unlimited (GPU) is a middleware start-up currently developing a full-featured game engine. We are recruiting 3D artists for our demo video development team. If you are a freelancer who is comfortable working from home, or just a talented artist who wants to work on an exciting next-generation project, this job is for you. Compensation will be on a per-model basis, and concept art and storyboards will be provided. The resulting demo video will be showcased during the Game Developer's Conference of 2013. Artists will retain rights to the work they create and may use this work in their portfolios without restrictions.
Requirements:
Proficiency in:
*3D modeling (character and/or hard surface/environment)
*Normal mapping/ZBrush
*UV Mapping
*Texturing
Additionally, for characters:
*Rigging
*3D Animation
Note: proficiency in just one of the above areas may be accepted (modeling/texturing OR rigging/animation). Ability to create photo-realistic models and textures is essential. Ability to work quickly and efficiently is also a must. We are looking for highly talented artists who are dedicated, responsible, have a positive attitude, respond well to feedback, and have the ability to work independently from their own homes.
Details of the project:
Within a 6 month time frame, we will be creating a 1-2 minute sci-fi film, using GPU's game engine for compilation and rendering. The film will be a dynamic, action-packed look at a possible future of our world. Storyboards and concept art are currently near completion. 3D artists will be responsible for creating the following assets: 10 characters (2 main characters, 8 extras), 4 futuristic military spaceships, 2 environments (ship interiors), and 1 building (military base), as well as animations for the characters.
Compensation will range from between $100 - $350 per complete model (depending on complexity, with animation, where applicable).
We are ideally looking for 1 or 2 artists, but may accept up to 3. 3D development is scheduled to begin January 1st, 2012.
Please be in touch if you are interested in learning more about this project, or becoming a part of the team! Links to concept art examples are in the reference URL's.
