DETAIL DESCRIPTION
PORTFOLIO
• Video: wide range of published and highly realistic effects (weapons, atmospherics, etc.) placed in highly realistic next-gen game environments with a shot-by-shot breakdown
• Documentation or demonstration of development workflow, including tool and engine use, artistic and budgetary considerations
• Other effects (sci-fi, fantasy, etc.), game assets (models, textures, lighting), or film work a plus



EXPERIENCE
• 3-5 years experience as senior effects artist in games industry
• Primary effects artist on shipped next-gen title(s)
• Extensive experience with development of effects through gaming fx editors/programs
• Small group leadership and mentor/training
• Tool and/or scripting development for Max, Maya, or effects generation programs


SKILLS
• Self-motivated, proactive, results-oriented, team-centric, 'can do' approach and disposition
• Demonstrably high proficiency in crafting 2d art, basic 3d assets, and particle systems for use in effects
· Highly critical artistic eye and ability to organize and communicate vision in aesthetic and technical terms
· High level understanding of effects and rendering budgets
· Technical expertise involving shaders, and Max or Maya scripting
· Artistic expertise involving source art creation and "realistic" particle flow movement
• Working knowledge of shader function, including development and implementation
• Ability to develop animated textures
• Excellent communication, planning and execution
• Able to stay current with the latest tools, technologies, and techniques and help implement them into the pipeline
• Maintaining quality and efficiency under tight budgets and/or deadlines
• Small team organization & management
• Ability to collaborate - flexibility a must
• Passion about and interest in the visual effects field
• Tremendous passion for games and entertainment, especially first-person combat-oriented military titles

DUTIES
• Plan, coordinate and execute the development, implementation and optimization of effects to quality and schedule
• Craft in-game and pre-rendered visual effects through Maya, FumeFX, Houdini, 3dsMax, or other industry standard software
• Dissect style, development and implementation of existing franchise effects assets to maintain visual consistency
• Craft compelling moments through the design, creation and implementation of real-time particle effects using both static and animating 2D/3D elements
• Collaborate with internal and external creative, technical and art directors to craft visual effects solutions to gameplay mechanics
• Collaborate with effects artists at ATVI studios to maintain and improve existing franchise effects-related assets
• Document pipelines, techniques and best practices
• Assist Raven Software to stay current with new effects-related technologies
• Enrich knowledge and depth of technical and effects artists
