Having started out as a 24-hour adventure in distributing a single typeface, Lost Type is now a co-operative foundry that uses a pay-what-you-want model, with all of the money going to the font designers. Got Photoshop CS5? Got an iPad? Want them to talk to each other? We've already had a brief look at Adobe's companion apps, and now you can get your hands on them; that's Eazel, Color Lava and Nav, available now on the App Store. With them you can paint on your iPad and then send the results direct to Photoshop, mix colours for use in Photoshop and use your iPad to select your Photoshop tools. If that's not enough, Adobe has also released the Photoshop Touch SDK so that anyone can develop apps that talk to Photoshop CS5. Matt W Moore drops us a line to let us know about his exhibition at YES in Cincinnati, for which he showed up with no art, no supplies and no real idea what he was going to do, and created fifteen new canvases from scratch. And then to top it off he created an enormous mural that he describes as his favourite yet. Last year Stuart Wroe won a competition in Computer Arts Projects that earned him use of a pod in the Round Foundry, Leeds, for a year. 11 months later and he's been chosen to exhibit at the 30th anniversary Grassington Festival exhibition and at Leeds City Art Gallery. Stuart's also received an award to further develop his artistic practice and business, and he's being mentored by digital artist Steve Manthorp. Says Steve, "When I entered the CAP competition I had just been made redundant at the age of 51 and was facing a very bleak future, but with the benefit of the pod and CAP/CA’s continuing inspiration I am embarking on an 18 month and 3 year artist plan." If you’re working in a creative field, the current debate over unpaid interns will be giving you a major case of deja vu: creatives are asked to work for free all the time. News just in from the folks behind the forthcoming Memories art book – featuring stories of real-life recollections of a day in the struggle against cancer, illustrated by some of the world’s leading artists and designers – that brings the fundraising design project another step closer to fruition. Leicester-based print company Taylor-Bloxham (printer of Computer Arts regular Radim Malinic’s portfolio book ‘3’) has boarded the project as a print sponsor, enabling the publication to be printed, bound and finished at no charge – particularly good news in that the book’s proceeds will go to charity Maggies Cancer Care Centres.
