Brand New IDEO - centers on a 24-hour global Make-a-Thon taking place Monday, March 25th in IDEO's eleven offices around the world, starting in Tokyo and ending in San Francisco

IDEO just completed 24 hours of prototyping in public from Tokyo to San Francisco. We've effectively pulled a global all-nighter. It's left me with the hollow feeling one has after last call, followed by the rush of adrenaline to press on and watch the sunrise. Paul's initial comments were right. It is terrifying to be vulnerable in such a way. Would we have interesting ideas or fall flat under pressure? Would we come across as curious or as self-important? Would the technology work?

CLICK HERE AND WATCH "HOMINID" BEFORE READING THE Q&A  .

Brian Andrews  is a contemporary artist, critic, and visual effects supervisor currently living in San Francisco. His work employs a range of technologies in photography, video, and taxidermy in order to confront the viewer with images that reside on the uncanny line between the living and the automaton.

A Pixar film is a beautiful thing. Long after Toy Story’s 3-D novelty wore off, artists refined their techniques, so Up could make us cry. But in these computer-generated worlds full of perfect shapes and gradients, we inevitably lost some of that old Disney magic--the nuance of incredible, hand-drawn lines.

“Isn’t there a way we can bring that hand of an artist back?” John Kahrs thought.

At the time, he was working on ...

Crowdsourcing Creativity for Inspirational Marketers, Tortured Artists & Researchers

Using the Internet's vast reach has become the gateway for crowdsourcing.

It's easy enough on Twitter to crowdsource ideas. Get a group of followers to use a common hashtag and seek out ideas for anything you're working ...
