TARFEST MUSIC & ART FESTIVAL CELEBRATES 10th ANNIVERSARY

Filter Foundry supports KCRW (89.9) and LAUNCH LA and other industry brands to present LA's 10th Annual free, Music & Art festival,TARFEST, which returns to the historic La Brea Tar Pits on Saturday, September 22nd, with an impressive lineup of musical performances, live art exhibits, Biergarten, Wine Bar and local gourmet food for the whole family to enjoy.

I never really considered myself an illustrator, even though my first foray into the art world was drawing. I even came close to posting some of my pseudo-anime pencil sketches from "back in the day" to prove my point. Sure I have tons of coffeeshop cartoons and down-time doodles but an illustrator, I am not. When inspiration strikes however, I am always prepared. Here in the states we seldom get exposed to the cornucopia of persuasive creative that daily tries to convince people like you and me in other countries to buy, sell, consume, entertain, drink, lie to our girlfriends (this usually goes hand in hand with the drinking ads,) drive faster, loose weight, live healthier or trade stock. Yes, the elements are all the same, but the delivery is usually a little different. A while ago I started what my friend coined as "the drawer of inspiration." Every time I found something I "liked" I would toss it in the old metal cabinet by by the door. Eventually that turned into a wall of inspiration made up of everything from flyers I found near the local watering hole in Hollywood to direct marketing pieces laying around the post office.
